NXT Events and Credit Card Payments

I just managed the checkout of guests using RE NXT Event Module.  This was helpful to check guests in and as they paid for silent auction items or made a donation.

What was disappointing was that the Merchant Service Account was not tied in directly to the event.  Since we have three different merchant accounts through Blackbaud Payment Solutions (three foundations, each with their own checking out), this posed a difficulty as every transaction defaulted to the first account in our list.  This is not good when working with volunteers at events who either do not have the time, knowledge, or detail to catch this.  


Not only did this pose a risk in terms of funds going to the wrong checking account, but it was very time consuming to make sure the correct merchant account was selected each time.  NXT is already fairly slow when processing these edits during an event, but to add to the risk of having to set the correct merchant account for every transaction just seems sloppy.


It would be best financially, and from a data integrity to have the merchant account locked into a specific event, or locked in at the Project/Fund level.

This only makes the most sense to me since you can set defaults for Campaigns.  Now we need to take it a bit further and set default projects to specific merchant accounts.


Or Merchant account to specific Events.  Blackbaud NetCommunity/Spark/ BBIS already uses this concept in locking a merchant account to a specific donation page.

This may not be popular with others as I am not sure how many clients actually use multiple merchant accounts....but from a database design this only makes the most sense to me.
