How to Store "Probation" on a student

"Academic Probation" in our school is, quite simply, two or more failures for a marking period.

In EE, I was able to calculate this as a performance category.

This was very convenient because:

1. I could calculate it [automatically]

2. I could display it on the report card


In the current system, it doesn't appear that I can use Academic performance because there's nowhere to indicate "two or more failures".

Thus far, I've been calculating these by hand and setting admin-only custom fields.

There are two probelmswith this:

1. I have to do it myself

and

2. I cannot display a custom field on a report card.


Does anyone use any other mechanisms to record this?

I would really like to be able to show this on the report card.
