Can we not add a non-constituent relationship in NXT?
Catherine Avena
I am very disappointed that we are not able to add a non-constituent relationship in NXT:(

You can! You should have a little black plus sign next to the field where you would search for a constituent - that's where you can add a relationship-only record. If you don't have that there might be something hinky with your security settings. I attached a screenshot so you can see what I mean.

Rachel Walker, If you add a non-constituent in NXT, does it reflect that relationship in the RE database version? We've noticed that Notes added in NXT do not go to the database RE; so we've made the policy to not add anything unless we're in the database RE version.
Rachael Walker
Yes, the relationships appear in database view as well. I know what you mean about things you do in NXT not showing up in database view, but this is not one of them.

could you elaborate on your comment about notes entered in web view not showing up in database view? I had not heard of that issue, and when I just tested it, it works just fine.
I added a note from the Notes and Actions tile and it shows up in the Constituent Notes tab of database view. I also added a note in the "Add summary note" in the top section where constituent name, spouse, cons codes, etc are shown (there is a name for this area of the screen but I don't remember it right now). That note also showed up in the Constituent Notes tab of database view. Are there other places that notes are being added and do not show up in database view?
Thanks!

Hi Karen,
I was never the person putting things in NXT and not transferring to database version as I am always in database version. It believe it may have been Media that was added to the records, but not sure. Rachel Walker may be able to elaborate further. I just heard about it when my boss announced in our meeting that anyone needing any notes, media, address changes, etc added to a record to give it to me to add in database RE. Sorry I cannot be more specific.
I can tell you the flow of data in RE Connect is why we do not use it and probably never will until BB fixes it to be a two-way flow the way it was when we had our other website. Our more complete historical data is in RE so we cannot have Core info wiping out information we currently have in RE and creating blanks where Core hasn't been kept up until very recently for us. We are very short staffed and the two way flow would be helpful to us in many ways....sorry! didn't mean to trail off onto RE Connect (it's a sore spot for me, for sure).
Thanks!
Becky

I think it isn't notes that aren't visible in DB view when added in web view - but the media/attachments. Any attachments added in web view aren't visible in DB view and, I believe, are unlikely to ever be?
This mostly affects us when it comes to Gift Aid Declaration documentation - the scans are uploaded as attachments by a volunteer in web view, but we have them also add in an action to say "GAD 2019" so that when we're looking in DB view, we know that if we want to see the actual declaration form we need to pop over to web view. It's not the most ideal way of doing things, but we don't think our volunteer would really cope with DB view (plus any place with white text on a grey gradient is impossible for them to see pretty much!).
I suppose the benefit of you doing all the changes is that they'll be done according to your organisations processes each time but the downside is that it's extra work for you!

for the clarification. I am pretty sure you're correct that Attachments in NXT do not write back to database view. We are all spread across different worlds right now so it is difficult to keep track of!! And Becky, I do NOT envy you for having to keep Core in the mix at all. Good luck on that, and if you are ever at BBCON, let's find each other and I'll buy you a drink!

Karen, haha! sounds good! hopefully will be cleared to go to next one, budget to be determined at this point.

We're just setting up our NXT now and this was a really useful chat and answer session for me to read, thank you!
