Mapping student records to an alumni directory(Business process & permision)

Hi there!

For those of you who manage an online directory as part of your alumni service offering, please can you advise how you map your student records into the directory? Do you seek permission to include students/new alumni in the directory or do they get added automatically as part of legitimate interest and offering a lifelong service. If the latter, do you share all contact data or just list their names/programme/year in the first instance?
