Altru and Batch Import

I am preparing to batch import for the first time and wondered how Altru will handle it if one of my records to import matches an existing constituent record?  Will I be alerted so I can handle it separately, will my information override what already exists, or will a duplicate record be created?

  • Altru will alert you of duplicates, based on the Constituent Matching settings you set up in your Import Batch Template (the default) or under Set Options/Constituent Matching in your Import process setup.  You should be able to accept/reject each duplicate as it comes up.


    I recommend starting with a small test batch and include one record in the import that you know is already in the database (I use my own personal record for this all the time).  Then you can run it and see what the process looks like.


    Don't get too discouraged if the import takes a few tries.  A new import process usually takes a few tweaks before it runs smoothly.
