Student ID Cards

Hello everyone!


We are currently implementing Blackbaud in our school. Our old SIS had a module that allowed us to print ID cards for the students. The cards are used for student identification, and must be worn at all times on a lanyard while in the building. We also link the barcode on the ID with the student's unique ID number, so they can use it to purchase food at lunch (with MyKidsSpending). 


Can anyone recommend the software that they currently use to print student ID cards? Of course something that integrates with Blackbaud would be a plus! Or some other solution your school uses for the same purpose besides ID cards?

So we've actually found a local photo company that in exchange for a change to sell photos to our students/parents prints our ID's for free. The 'sell' is simply they give each student a packet with a free photo from the ID photo taking process along with a flyer selling packages.


This is the software they use:

Hi Janice,


We use S2 for our badging. It does not tie directly to Blackbaud but imports are fairly easy. We use the students' Blackbaud user IDs as their main identifier. They are printed on the cards and are tied to Odin for purchases in the school store.

We pull from BB's API and use a product called Cardsmith. The data is pulled down several times a day and we managed to also pull the blob file from BB so we have the image that is uploaded for the user.  We also pull the data into ODIN(point of sale), and Option Options(access control).  


Cards have magstripe, RF, and barcode.  We wanted lots of redundancy.

This sounds good to me because we also use ODIN for point of sale,
and would like to pull the data for student lunch cards.

Do you have a link for Cardsmith? I can't seem to find them
online.
