Short or Summer Programs
Does anyone out there run temporary summer programs for non-students?
We run a summer program for rising 8th graders who are not enrolled in our school.
It's basically a recruiting tool and lasts for 5-8 weeks.
We have used an application to get the initial applicant info. But, does it make sense to actually enroll them into the school even though they're here for only a few weeks?

What kind of impact would that have on the future, where many of these same kids will be applying to us for 9th grade? [will they look like previouslywithdrawn students and what impact would that have on the future admissions process [they’d be entering in 21-22]
Thanks for any input

Hi John- We have a summer program that includes folks who are not current students. We implemented earlier in 2020 and purposefully built out a pathway with our LMS/SIS consultant. This pathway is an admissions pathway that is running in parallel to our standard academic year admissions pathway (separate admissions checklists, etc.). This summer has now been pretty impacted by COVID-19, but our plan is to enroll summer students between the end of the academic year and the beginning of summer. And then we are pre-setting each summer-only student's enrollment dates to end at the end of our summer program. So there's still some administrative labor involved, but that was the best solution that we could find within the system.
Once those students have profiles in your system, you'll just re-activate them (and change login access, etc.) as necessary if they come back through your admissions funnel at a later time.1
