How are higher education institutions using Stewardship Plans?

We currently use Prospect Plans for our fundraising efforts, but we currently do not use the Stewardship Plans functionality.  How do other institutions use Stewardship plans?  Or, are you using Prospect Plans and just incorporating stewardship steps?  Any guidance would be much appreciated, thank you!

  • Hi Crystal,

We just finished our CRM conversion to BBCRM
in Febuary.  We made the decision to not use the Stewardship
plans functionality and instead just add a stewardship step to the
active plan.  We did this for 2 reasons: 1) We don’t have a
large stewardship team and the use of the function seemed a bit
overkill since our frontline fundraising officers do 99% of the
donor-relation type stewardship (not the gift agreement mandated
reporting stewardship) and 2) if you consider that all stewardship
IS donor-relations but not all donor-relations is stewardship then
it makes sense that a new plan (re-assess/re-qualify) for a new ask
should then have a new stewardship step associated with that new
plan.  So when the previous plan/ask leads to a new plan/ask
we stop recoding stewardship steps on the old plan, mark it
historical, and add a new stewardship step to the new plan/ask.

We just found that BBCRM should work for us
and not us work for BBCRM…

  • Thank you, Adam.  Your answer makes sense and I'll share with our team.  Have a great day!

  • We use Stewardship Plan do you track the progress of the fund within our endowment pool. We currently import Market Values and Expenditures into CRM that so our stewardship team doesn't have to log into another system. With this in CRM, we were able to build a workflow that tracks funds in "To be Endowed", "Funded/Needs Resolution", "Board Approval", then "Endowed". The Stewardship package has field to track all of this and that all we use it for as we have a custom process to create stewardship reports.
  • Thank you, Daniel.  I believe we are tracking that type of information within the Purpose.  As we customized our stewardship package and financial information on the purpose.
