Self serve credit card updates

Is anyone using any method of constituent self serve credit card updating that have made gifts through on-line express?  We would like the capability of our constituents to be able to update their own credit card information when needed. Thanks.

Hi Dana Swanson‍ - Unfortunately, what you are looking for does not exist.  The only way for constituents to update their credit card information through an OLX form is to create a new recurring gift; this sometime requires staff follow-up with the donor - i.e. the new recurring gift amount differs from their current recurring gift amount.  If you haven't already, please visit the OLX Idea Bank and vote the ideas listed requesting that constituents are granted the ability update payment information on their current recurring gift through OLX.

We were looking for the same thing!


We spent quite a bit of time with our web developers trying to divine a system that would be PCI compliant and comfortable for the end user, but eventually settled on the development costs being too high to justify. Instead, we created an "update your details" Online Express form, and then we have an administrative process that ends the old recurring gift and configures the new recurring Gift. This unfortunately makes tracking and reporting a bit harder.


Our logic was to use the Online Express form to understand how many people would use the feature, and then try to determineif the development cost of creating another system compared to the administrative burden of the OLX "workaround" represented good value.


Note that Blackbaud Merchant Services + the Payments API may be one way to go about development of such a system - but no, nothing native exists ?

I want to take a second to verify that you are aware of the Credit Card Updater services from Blackbaud Payment Services. 


If you are not - or for others reading this thread that are not aware - it is an incredibly affordable (and might even be free depending on your account) 


If a credit card company has opted-in to their services you are able to access updates with the click of a button in the Data Health Center. Expiration dates, updated expiration dates. 


We have saved so much money using this service and a lot less hassle to our donors which is the most important piece for us.
