Marketing Effort Segment Refresh Queue

Greetings, All!


I'm hoping to gain some insight into how to work more efficiently with the Marketing Effort Segment Refresh Queue feature that exists in our version of BBCRM ("BBEC").


(The organization I work for has a customized version of BBCRM, but I would think that this queue is pretty similar across versions).


There are two factors that have resulted in this Queue becoming so large that it often fails:
  1. Marketing Effort Segments that are used in past Marketing Efforts, but that are no longer current, cannot be archived (or of course deleted).
  2. The Segment Refresh Queue has limited configuration options and can only be set to refresh All segments, or segments by Group, or individually selected segments. Ours is set to All, with the idea that this would ensure that accurate marketing data is readily and consistently available.
In trying to solve for a failing Queue, one problem I'm encountering is that if I change the Queue to refresh by Group, I'm afraid any segments that for whatever reason do not belong to a group of some kind, will not get included in the Queue. We have over 1,000 segments that do not currently belong to a Group.


Is there a Business Process that would allow for Segments to be grouped in Bulk?


And more broadly, has anyone encountered a similar issue of a ballooning Segment Refresh Queue and figured out a creative solution?
