Attachments web view and Media database view

I'm trying to get a handle on how others store Attachments, and any best practice suggestions for this.

From what I'm reading in NXT Help, it says: attachments added in the web view don't appear in the database view.

The Help article further suggests that adding something via Media in database view will show up in Attachments (provided the attachment is less than 100 MB).

When I tried this today, I wasn't successful.  I'm wondering if I'm picking the wrong choices in Media.  Does someone have a guide or some directions of how to add a 3-page PDF from database view so it shows in Attachments in webview?

And then this explains the notification I see when merging duplicates in database view warning that NXT attachments are lost.  Right?  This would only wipe out the attachments on the record being merged, right?

Thanks.

I don't know if this would affect how you were testing it - but the things you upload in Media don't immediately show up in webview. I think it's supposed to take about an hour for that to happen.

It should work exactly the way you mention it.  NXT-only files and fields don't generally move over to database view.
