Has anyone switched from a Semester-Based System to Trimesters?

Hello - We are considering a move to trimesters from our current semester-based system.  I haven't rolled over anything as I think we will have to start from scratch.  I would love to hear from anyone who has undertaken this seemingly daunting task.  Any insights would be welcome.  Thanks - Marie

    We just did the reverse - trimester to semester. It is an undertaking with lots of moving parts but we got through it. The biggest issue is that you can't change the term length for the existing classes.


    Make sure that you have your Years & Terms setup in core first. If you want to not see references to the semesters, you would then have make all of you existing courses inactive and delete all sections prior to removing the terms. 


    We did a course import with all the same course information but a different course code and term length. From there it is fairly the straight forward procedurally: offer, create sections, enroll. I may be missing a step but that's it for the most part. Don't forget you have to change all of your grading setup too!
