Query to show young alumni with the same mailing address as parents

I am trying to create a query that will pull alumni from Class of 2001-2016 that still have the same mailing address as their parents.   Their mail is not being returned to us (as I assume it is getting pitched).  I want to send an email through NXT with a link to an update form - but I need to have the static query from RE.  Has anyone accomplished this?  If so, could you give me the parameters of your query?

Because query cannot compare data for you, it is not possible to accomplish through query alone.  I don't know what your internal staffing is like, but you might be able to have someone write a report for you that finds similar matches.  It would still start with a query, but would cast a wide net of alumni during the timeframe, and their parents.


I never had that option for help with internal reports like that, so it was very manual and roughly followed these steps:

• Run AddressAccelerator standardize all addresses
• Create a query of Alumni and their parents and include ID, name, class year, and address in the output
• Export query results to Excel and use the conditional formatting to highlight duplicates in the address column
• Sort or filter on the duplicate rows and remove parent rows.
• Create a query using the IDs of the remaining students, and use that for email or other communication

Good luck!  It is frustrating and difficult to manage!
