Inventory Adjustment Report

Hi, we went live while closed and will remain closed for the next few months, so are are poking around looking to generate reports that our auditors require. I see how to adjust inventory, but the inventory movement report does not include adjustments, only sales. Does anyone have tips on how to generate a report that lists the adjustments made during a month? Our typical adjustments are for 3 reasons: 1. Loss (although we don't have any visitors now, sometimes things walk away), 2. Breakage, 3. Dept Transfer (we sometimes take items out of inventory to use as a give away at an outreach event so transfer from inventory to the dept hosting the event) Having a detailed monthly list of these so we can make the general ledger entries is required as back up by our auditors, they justify the change in value of the inventory that is not reflected by sales. This seems like a powerful system that we shouldn't have to generate these lists with as much hunting as we currently are.

The majority of the merchandise reporting I need is not provided through the canned reports.  John is right about creating a query for this.  You will end up having to create a variety of queries to meet your reporting needs.  While you have the time, learn how to create Sales and Merchandise Queries, how to export the query results to excel, and how to use excel to create the reports you need. 


We've been using Altru for 6 years and while I've created a lot of query/excel workarounds - I still don't think I've found the most efficient way to handle Altru's lack of merchandise reporting.  Part of me still hopes Altru will eventually make some merchandise improvements - but they haven't been on the roadmap for the past 6 years...

I was able to create the report using your example.  Have another question, if we want the "Action Dt" to give the user an option to select the date rate each month; do they have to modify the query each month, or is there a dropdown or something similar to input the date range in for any period?

The action date can be an "is" (today, last week/month/year; this week/month/year) or a date range set using "between."


I typically use the "is" function for last month, quarter and year reporting based on our periodic inventory counting.
