The ability to keep a topic page's download "unpublished" seems unreliable

Hello -- at my school, we currently have about 90% of our students present physically in school every day, while about 10% chose the remote option.  For students who've chosen the remote option, when it comes to tests/quizzes, I've decided to upload a PDF of the test/quiz to my class website within one of my "Topics" pages (I'd rather not have to use the online assessment function thing for only a few students, particularly since that takes so long to copy and paste every multiple choice option, etc. into the fields, etc.).  However, I tried to use the feature that sets a particular file in the "topic" to only be published within a certain time range -- specifically, I wanted it to only be published during the class period.  So, I entered the start of that period on the day of the test/quiz to be the time when it would begin to be published, and then the end of the period as the time when it would disappear.  However, when the period for the test/quiz arrived, the students at home couldn't see the test/quiz -- and neither could I.  So, I had to go in and toggle on the "publish" thing.

Later, I played around with the time ranges, and found that it could be set to be published within a time range, but I think the time zones must be off or something; I couldn't figure out exactly how many hours ahead or behind it is.  Is there a way to adjust that?

Also, I'd like to be able to keep multiple documents/files/downloads in a topic page "unpublished," but it looks like it won't let me have TWO documents BOTH be unpublished.  When I try to set a second one to be unpublished, suddenly the first one ends up being published.  Is there a way to fix this?

Thanks!

  • Hello; I haven't gotten a reply to this yet, so I thought I'd try doing my own reply to it to see if it will make it come up again for people to see.  :)

I see the same behavior you describe. That is (I hope) a bug. You should submit a case so that it gets onto Blackbaud's list of things to work on.
  • Thanks!  Could you please tell me how I submit a case?
