Event registrations: deleting old transactions

I'm inclined to overwrite an event registration from last year to repurpose for 2020. Credit cards were processed and all registrations were marked handled. Is it safe to delete transactions from years past if the credit cards and registrations have cleared? Would we want to export a spreadsheet before deleting?

You don't have to do any extra work here.  There is actually a built in function with Event Registration to Copy an existing Event Registration without carrying over the Registrants.  Many school's do this as they have similar events year over year and with this functionality, the historical data from years gone by can be maintained.  The only thing you would want to do is make sure you have a good naming convention (such as including the year in the title) so that you will know which is the most current Event Registration.  Hope this helps!

Thanks for the idea. In my experience, much of the most tedious set-up work does not copy over. Notifications, for example.
