Google Assignments LTI - again

A banner at the top of assignments.google.com says: Moving forward, Assignments will only be available as an integrated add-on application for your LMS.
The link included in the banner (https://bit.ly/34wvN3Z) says in part: The current Assignments standalone website, which does not integrate with your LMS, will no longer be supported or available to use effective January 15, 2021.
I tested the integration again today. I don't see anything different from this summer: the teacher can create a GA class and assignment, but can't attach template documents to the GA assignment. It seems like GA will become a dead-end product for us in January.
Has anyone seen any improvement to the integration? Am I missing something?
