BBCRM - SSRS Subscriptions Not Allowed In Azure

If you have a hosted BBCRM solution in Azure, how are you getting around SSRS subscriptions not being allowed in Azure? We have a quite a few reports we would like to automate and email out to a list of users. Subscriptions are one of the benefits to using SSRS so if it's not allowed, then what is the alternative? There is a Web Service endpoint called ReportsExport. Is that what users are exploiting to automate reports out of a Azure-hosted BBCRM solution? I've seen a few things about the queue and about using FTP to export the file to a location. Perhaps those are the only alternatives, but I don't see where you can run a PDF with parameters in the business processes.

Any help would be very much appreciated. Thank you!

  • Hey Tim, CRC is hosted in Blackbaud's Azure for BBCRM and are using Blackbaud's read-only connection. This allows us to produce PowerBI and SSRS. Read-only connection is supposed to be generally availablesoon (as in 2021). I don't have specifics on the timeline.
  • Hi Tim and Chris

Chris - just a quick clarification on that answer. Are you using your own hosted SSRS server and connecting remotely to Azure via the read only connection, meaning that the SSRS subscription emails can be sent from your server?

We're over in Australia and Azure will be coming soon for us. We're keen to get onto it but losing our SSRS scheduled reports would be a pain.
  • Hi Tim - Not sure if you ever got an answer to your SSRS reporting issue. Maybe I can help if you haven't.

We have successfully created a "handshake" between all the RE/FE NXT data and provide full connectivity to your database, like when it was on premise.

Mission BI Reporting Access™ and SQL Access™ are Blackbaud Marketplace Applications that enable standardized data source connections to your RE NXT™ and FE NXT™ data from virtually any reporting platform such as Microsoft Power BI, Tableau, or Crystal Reports.

Reporting Access™ and SQL Access™ are much more than simple API connectors. They are specialized database solutions, hosted and managed in the secure Mission BI Cloud, and optimized as data source connections for advanced custom reporting.

To be clear, our direct database access solution would eliminate the need for the daily backup and automate near real time refreshes in a secure SQL environment within the Mission BI warehouse.
