Hi Roma,

I find the Tribute Module very helpful. It is great if you do get a lot of Memorial gifts as you can very quickly then click on the honouree and see they have received 15 gifts totalling $x and the list of people the gifts are from.  I know some people will use soft credit for this, but I find that a bit messy when it comes to reporting.  We also used it often at my last org because we did a lot of Birthday Party fundraisers, so it doesn't need to just be for the usual "memorial" gifts.

I've worked with the Tribute module the entire time we have had Raiser's Edge, for over 20 years.  We receive alot of memorial gifts when someone passes away and list all the appropriate donors in our publications. The module makes it easy for reporting that information. As Aldera mentioned, I also use it for Honorary gifts.  If you generally receive these types of gifts and need to track donor data, it makes it very simple.

We have had the Tribute module for quite a while, but we are just now starting to realize many of the potential uses for it. Like the others have said, it is helpful when donors want to make a gift in someone's honor or memory; we are a religious community and often have a memorial or scholarship fund set up when one of the priests or brothers (or committed donor) dies. We now use Online Express to allow someone to make that gift designation at the time of their online gift; in the past, such gifts were often sent in the mail and tracked manually.

Working in a healthcare organization, I find the tribute module to be a must have.  It does make the management of tribute gifts, both for honor and memorial gifts much easier.  I will state that many of the functionality of the tribute module has not moved over into NXT yet.  However, it's implementation on the database view is definitely worth considering.  I find it helpful when running the honor acknowledgement reports.  


Seeing that you work in a hospice, I would think it would be one of the modules that you would need the most.  It might be worth looking at your contract and seeing if there are any modules you have that you don't need (ie. alum, volunteer, event) and inquire about possibly purchasing one while removing another.  It's probable that the contract has some modules built into it that you may not know about.

I have also found the tribute module helpful.  Before I was using complicated gift attributes, but the tribute module makes that more simple.

The Tribute Module is a must-have for us. Being able to run a report (in db view) has proven to be invaluable! My predecessor had to keep an excel sheet updated (our last database did not keep track of tributes).
