Option for donor to cover processing fees

Hello! Does anyone have experience with enabling any feature to allow our donors to have the option to cover the processing fees that are charged for each donation? My organization is looking into this feature (if possible) for our Online Express donation page made through Raiser's Edge.

Great question!  My understanding is that Blackbaud is working on this feature to roll out sometime this year.  In the meantime, many of us are using a free donor cover option made by SmartTHING called SmartDONORCOVER: https://www.smartthing.org/smartdonorcover/.


I recently implemented and it is working well.  Amazing the number of donors who want to cover the expense!

Hi SheryAnne Wui‍ - We consider the entire amount to be a donation from the donor. If you take a look at the screen shots provided in the "SmartTHING - SmartDONORCOVER - Tell me about your experience" thread, you can see that the organization is still charged a cc fee on the transaction.  Adding this feature has not caused any additional reconciling issues for our organization.
