Semesters to Trimesters
Megan Lowney
Has anyone switched from semesters to trimesters after implementation? How did that work out? What did it entail?

Hi Megan,
We switched our 5th and 6th grades from trimester to semester
a number of years ago. We spent a number of months preparing for it
and timed it with our year-end rollover. The change required a
data fix which we scheduled with Blackbaud in advance. At
the time, we knew the change would impact our ability to
access historical data for the impacted students but we were not
concerned because we almost never run a transcript for a 5th
or 6th grader. If it had impacted our upper school students, the
situation would have been different.
The process may be easier today than it was when we made our
change. I would recommend that you consult with your Blackbaud
account manager and carefully review all of the steps involved to
ensure that it goes smoothly.
I hope this helps!
