Help: Why is Margin and Markup not updating correctly?

I am new to Altru and setting up the museum store inventory items manually. I have run into the margin and markup not updating correctly after I have made changes to the cost and retail. This seems weird. This is a screenshot of a product I created in the Staging database. This also happened in the real database and I had to delete the merchandise and re-create it when I accidently closed out of the Add Merchandise window too soon.


This concerns me as I go forward with using Altru. Prices change and I need the proper margin showing up.


Please let me know if this is the right environment for this question.

I've noticed this too - when I create a product, then edit the price, the average cost & margin are incorrect.


However, I believe that after you edit the price, then have an inventory change (due to receiving a shipment and/or selling the item), then the correct margins appear. It's been awhile since I've tested that, so you may want to test it yourself to see if I'm correct.


Regardless, it bothers me so much that if I create a product at the wrong price I delete it and create it again.

Thank you for your reply! I thought I was a bit crazy at first. This did help though. I removed the product from inventory and added it back in via "Add inventory shipment" with the appropriate unit cost.

This did not work for me. I'm still showing the original "Cost" from when we first transferred to Altru. There is a sale attached to this so it cannot be deleted. Any suggestions?

I could have been wrong that it updates when a sale happens. Maybe it's only when a shipment is received? The only way I could test it is to deliberately make a mistake, then receive a shipment. I remember testing it in the sandbox a million years ago, and thinking that it worked. But I'm not positive on that now...

thank you for your response! Our IT guru figured out a way to correct it. For some reason that particular cost was stuck on the cost when we rolled over to Altru. Everything else has been adjusting just fine. It will remain a mystery. But it is corrected now. thanks!
