Adding individual private lessons to student schedules

Students are enrolled in instrument/voice lessons. The lessons are set up as classes and put into a designated block which is used as a placeholder. The teachers then pick a day/time to meet with the student based upon the student's free periods. We would like the times chosen for the individual private lesson to appear on the student's schedule. Has anyone found an easy way to do that?

"Easy" is not the word I would use to describe what we had planned to do. (The shift to remote-only and then hybrid learning has delayed implementation...) We are using this plan for a similar need in the Athletics department now, and will use it for music lessons eventually.

I created an Activity Schedule Set that has each class period (plus immediately before school and immediately after school) as time periods. The block names can be created by import, but have to be assigned to time slots manually. The class period names and times match the academic schedule. I created an activity and multiple sections of the activity. I then assigned a block to each section, and then added students and coaches to each section.

This was easier to do for the Athletics department because there are several students in each section, and therefore fewer sections. The private music lessons will be more tedious because it's one teacher and one student per section. When we actually do this for music lessons, I will probably create a separate activity for each teacher (Private Lessons - Smith, Private Lessons - Jones, etc), and create and schedule a section for each student.

    Your mileage may vary.

Thank you, Brian. It seems like this is a way for us to get lessons on the student schedule, as well. The time it will take to set it up will hopefully benefit the students and prevent their confusion about when they attend lessons. I really appreciate the time you took to give us your insight!
