Welcome Series for New Subscribers

Hi there! I'm curious to see if anyone has figured out how to create a workflow for new email subscribers only -- we currently use the email signup form on the Raiser's Edge database (is there another way through RE NEXT?) and it combines all of our donors, email subscribers through the form, and event registrants on the list of people to "download". Is there a way to see the people who have been added to the list from ONLY signing up for our newsletter?


We'd like to do a welcome series for new email subscribers only, and I'm seeing an issue for two reasons:

1 - How can we differentiate how people are being added to the "download" list? Is there something we can do that will indicate whether or not they were just signing up for the emails?

2 - If they need to be downloaded before the emails can be triggered to send, it likely won't be automated in a timely manner for a typical email welcome series.


Would love to hear any workarounds that you all have or solutions that I am overlooking.

Hi Hayley Ward‍ - This is an interesting quandary. Since you want to create this as an email workflow in web view you will be constrained by the available filters in a Constituent List (this is the starting point in the system for an email workflow). Based on how you want to group constituents this may be too much for a List, which would leave you with a promoted static query that would need to be manually "refreshed" periodically to load new email signups into the workflow.


As it currently stands, web view does not have an email signup form; you will need to continue to use the provided one through OLX or create your own outside of the system. Based on how the information comes through OLX, I am not sure how you will differentiate between the constituents that signup for the newsletter versus events, unless you contact them and ask what their communication preferences are.


Finally, regardless of which route you take, a web view list or static query (to be refreshed), the email information will need to be downloaded from OLX and exist in the system in order to qualify for the workflow.
