EBT Card Processing

Hi Everyone! Our organization is interested in offering free admission for families that hold EBT (Electronic Benefits Transfer) cards. Essentially offer free admission to families who receive some type of state assistance. I was just curious how other organization's have handled these transactions or if they offer free admission to those applicable families? Other than an in house discount or advance phone reservation with proof of state assistance.... something to keep in mind is that our org. has pushed the majority of our ticket sales online due to the pandemic.

Any feedback is appreciated! Interested to hear what y'all have to say. Thanks everyone!

  • Hi Moriah,

We do it by the honor system. We charge a $2 Museums for All admission per person. Visitors using this price type are required to show their SNAP EBT benefits card when they arrive and check in at the Museum. We have a few price types that are honor system and so far they seem to be working okay.

  • Hi Moriah,

Our organization also offers a $1 Museums for All discount. We have info on our ticketing pages that says to call to reserve your tickets in Advance Sales with that discount. So far it's worked fine, it seemed too complicated to try and set up a way that they could just order them online. We technically ask for proof, but never really push guests to show us.
