Re enrollment contract wording "My son will not be returning for the 21-22 school year" too confusing- it should be my son is returning, yes or no. another option is two buttons, yes returning or no, not returning

Several of our families are experiencing confusion when they login into the parent portal to re enroll for the 2021-2022 school year. This is the first year we are fully integrated and re-enrolling via enrollment management.

Currently, the question says, my son will not be returning for the 2021-22 school year. The family will click on yes, my son will not be returning. The family will click no, my son is returning. This double negative is causing confusion. Some families are trying to re-enroll and unfortunately mis reading the question this is resulting in false "not returning". This is creating more work for our Admissions Office as they have to email and call the not returning families to confirm their 2021-22 school year status. Once Admissions confirms the family is returning, a new contract has to be generated.

A possible solution would be creating two buttons, yes, my son is returning and no, my son is not returning and then a drop down area for the reason will appear and need to be answered. Another solution could be to change the question to be "My son is returning for the 2021-22 school year with answer choices of yes or no (with a drop down for a reason). There could be other solutions too. enrollment mgt 21-22 re enrollment contract-edits needed to M Koenig 4.7.21.pdf

We don't use the option on our contracts because of the confusing questions. I say remove the option.
  • Hi-No, we don't want to remove. If a family is not returning, we want to know and we want to know the reason. This is the best way to capture that critical info.

We are small so we end up talking to our families anyway. Just trying to help.
  • We don't use it because we give returning and new parents the same contract. Plus we want them to tell us over the phone so our admissions officers can have that customer service touch with them. The wording was also confusing. Lastly we want to make it harder for them to drop us. Giving them the option in the contract blind sides us.

Sarah Bienvenue‍ that's great news! We used the declination last year but as you know, too many families found it confusing so we ended up removing it for this season. So glad you're revamping it because it is a super helpful way to collect that info from families.
