Bulk Message Students/Parents Based on Gradebook Criteria

I have teachers asking if there is a way to bulk messaage students/parents that are missing a particular assignment or scored below a certain value on an assignment or have a cumulative grade below a certain value. It would also be important that recipients of the message not be able to see who else is included in the message.

Currently, teachers are sending one-off messages to each parent/student in these cases which requires a lot of work and patience.

Anyone have a nifty suggestion for how to accomplish this? Is there an existing idea bank item that would include this functionality?

Thanks in advance for your wisdom!

Geoffrey Goodfellow‍, would official notes accomplish this? I know you can bulk send them and I'm thinking it would be bcc. Might have to test that part to be sure.
  • Thanks, Susan. Let me explore that option. Our front office uses a wide variety of official notes, but that has not been something our teachers have been using.

There is a notification option for missing grades. Parents and/or students would need to set up the notification in order to receive it, but it does exist!

Go to Core>Communications>Notifications. Click on the NOTIFICATIONS tab. Under Academics, you'll find it and can set up all the necessary messaging. I'm happy to provide steps for parents/students to set up notifications as well. Just let me know!
  • Thanks, Tammy. We do have that notification enabled. I think that works for many students, but for those that still don't complete the missing assignment or have grade concerning grade performance are causing the teacher to want to reach out in a more meaningful way to parents.
