What Prospect Status or Donor Stage do fundraisers enter opportunities?

I'm curious at what Stage or Prospect Status do you require or encourage fundraisers to enter an opportunity into NXT? For those that enter opportunities during Cultivation, have you found that it helps the moves management process?

  • Curious and following this thread! We have only recently begun looking at Proposals. (We have had the module forever, but never used that element.) My plan is to enter a proposal once the donor has been qualified and enters cultivation (meaning that we are definitely sure we plan to ask them, and we already know how much). At the moment, I enter future ask information into their Cultivation action notes, because it is helpful to our fundraisers to know early on what ask they are being expected to make 6 months down the road.


    This may be different in an org with a different set-up and a more autonomous fundraiser culture. In our org, I am the main one coordinating a group of mostly volunteer fundraisers, so putting the information in early helps them keep track of where we're going. But it also helps us in our revenue forecasting/organizational budgeting, to know what gift asks have been scheduled in the next year (anticipating that we will only realize 30-40% of total asks). Entering them during Qualification, on the other hand, would seem premature, as you don't really know if the donor has the affinity and capacity to make that ask, and the amount may be adjusted or even eliminated.
