Standing order help

Hi all, I hope it's ok to ask this here. We're a charity in the UK and have a number of donors who give regularly by standing order but at a variety of intervals- monthly, bi-monthly, quarterly etc.

To log their donations on Raiser's Edge, we cross reference a spreadsheet of donations received in that month that our Finance team provide against the donors in a recurring batch we have set up, adding donors who gave in that month but weren't in the batch and removing those from the batch that didn't give that month. We don't have a large number of donors who give by standing order so this is manageable but still time consuming.

Does anyone have any more straightforward methods for logging regular standing order donations they could recommend?

We use Recurring Gifts. You can set their schedule for monthly, bi-monthly, quarterly, annually, etc. - just like with a pledge. Then you just pull a new batch every month just on the gifts that are due that month, using the “Automatically Generate Transactions” option in the toolbar. So much less manual editing, to make the gifts recurring, rather than the batch.
