How to import multiple address lines for an event location (Field: EVLocAddr)?

I have an import file that creates several events, i.e. board meetings. Meetings are held at various locations. I'd like to be able to add an address that contains multiple address lines. In this case “/n” does not work like when importing constituent addresses. Any ideas? Thank you, Brenda

Brenda, after a bit of testing (and scouring the Import Guide on KB), it looks as though RE is physically unable to import separate address lines for an Event. I tested this by creating import files from known records with multiple address lines.

The Constituent record outputted with the /n marker:

…however, the Event record outputted with both address lines crammed together.

If you feel the need for multiple Event address lines, it looks as though you will have to add them manually. Perhaps 1) if it is a single location, you could just go with it and keep all address info on one line, or else 2) if there are multiple locations, store the information in a different (historical) field like Notes or Attributes, since there is limited practical use in having multiple unique locations in the Address field, when only one city and state can be entered anyhow? Just some thoughts!

Thank you Faith! You pretty much confirmed what I found out through my testing. Until something changes, I'll be entering manually or like you suggested keep the address info on one line.
