Added new direct marketing effort to existing appeal

Has anyone successfully created a DME for an appeal that already has gift records? When I create a single effort with one segment and attach it to an existing appeal the gifts all come in as 'Unresolved". According to the documentation, if the appeal only has one DME the gifts should populate to the segment. Has anyone made this work?

Hi Dale,
Were the constituents who made the gifts that had the appeal included in the segment? If someone made a gift with that appeal and they weren't in the segment on the ME, then it will come as unresolved. Also, if that segment is being used in any other ME then it will always come in as unresolved (even if the appeals are different.)

in CRM unresolved responses are gifts that don't have the effort associated with the appeal attached to the gift. Adding the marketing effort after the appeal has been created and gifts have been received will not automatically add that effort to the gifts already in the database as the trigger should only auto populate the effort for any subsequent gifts made.

To fix this you will need to go and edit the gifts that have already been received tied the appeal and add the effort. That will move them out of the unresolved section but unless you populate the source code as well it's possible they will just show as indirect responses as that source code in conjunction with the effort populates giving into the segment lines in the DME.

Thanks for your response. I knew from testing that it worked for the gifts after the fact. It didn't click that it was a trigger in the gift entry and and not in the DME refresh.
