Duplicates - Not All Data Carried Over

I just noticed when merging two constituent records that the “merge from” record had a full middle name and the “merge to” record had only a middle initial. After the merge (in database view), the middle initial had not been overwritten with the full middle name. I have researched to see if there are known issues with certain data not being carried over, and the only thing I found was regarding the SSN field. Is there a resource we can reference to know what all data pieces may not be carried over/overwritten?

    So I haven't used Raiser's Edge in a little over a year. (We moved to Altru). But I think what you posted sounds normal. The Merge From middle name will not overwrite the Merge To middle initial. If the middle name field had been blank on Merge To, then Merge From would have overwritten it, but it has to be blank.
