Importing Gifts into a Batch

Can you use the import tool in RE to import directly into a gift batch?

I did a quick KB search and it is telling me no but wondered if others found a way to do this

if you use Import O Matic, you can import straight into batch. Regular RE import doesn't allow that…

thanks @Karen Bethell - that is what I feared/thought. We used to have ImportOmatic but got rid of it for a cheaper/not as great tool for the online platform we use. I can probably import and add an attribute that is a gift batch number or something so things can still be batched for finance.

We use the free version of Importacular to import gifts into batch. Once it is set up, it works great. I think the free version allows you to set up imports for Constituents, Addresses and Gifts.

I attempted to use RE Import years back, but never got it to work. I don't remember what it was, but there was a reason I was looking at Import. I use ImportOmatic as well because the split gift push works well, and we have many of them.

I should mention that we only import to batch when we know everyone giving is already a constituent and it is a special event where there are more than 15 or 20 gifts.
