Automatically Soft Crediting Spouses

I'm baffled that this isn't a global update or an automatic feature. I don't know of any couples/families who give donations as individuals rather than as a family unit. Based on information I received from RE support, I will have to manually go into each and every constituent record to turn on the “automatically soft credit this individual for gifts”. Has anyone figured out an easier way to do this?

I ran into that same situation here where a number of married alumni were not being soft-credited. I did update the check box with a global change to at least have it going forward.

I just ran the query and see I have a few more that need the change - will add it to my maintenance queries. LOL

I can't recall if I went back and SCed past gifts or not but there is an import function. Under Admin go to import > Gift > Soft Credit and it has this info on the fields needed.
  • Thank you so much! This just saved me HOURS of tedious data entry. I cant believe RE support doesn't suggest this.

  • Believe it or not, I have seen this at my work in two big NYC churches. Members of couples pledge separately and give separately and don't want to be soft credited for each other's gifts. It makes for a lot of individual fixes so that they are solicited separately and tax letters are issued separately. It happens.
