Benefits to breaking out applications vs a universal one

I'm wondering about making one universal application for students, regardless of grade or division. (currently we have lower, middle and upper school apps). Do you see any potential issues in doing this? (We are rolling admissions cycle so no difference in due dates). Have you found any benefits to having separate ones (other than to have different questions). Thank you!

  • The only problem I see is if you are asking different questions of the students or parents, depending on their grade level. Is there a cost difference to the applications for each school level (lower, middle, upper)?
  • Thanks Coco, we don't have diff fees for applications. The questions are a little different, but with some massaging I was thinking I could make it into one application. Minimize the number of applications to change when changes do come!
  • I agree! You can given me something to think about for 23-24! Thanks!
  • We just have one application regardless of grade. It has worked well but we don't have an application fee, we have an enrollment fee that is attached to the contract instead. We do have an area on our application that asks if there are any special circumstances or things we need to know and that is helpful because if there's something of concern we can contact parent directly and get more information/clarification.

  • Thanks Vicky! I think I will try to go to one...we do have some different questions (and a student section for the older kids) which pushed us down his path, but it's a pain to maintain different apps. I may make the student applicant part of the application a form or some other document.
