Bar Code Scanning and Events

I would like to be able to generate tickets with bar codes that the attendee could then have scanned at the event check-in (scanning would bring up the participant record in the event and mark them as attended). RE NXT doesn't seem to have this functionality though. Has anyone found an alternative way of doing this to speed up guest check in and make it as ‘contactless’ as possible?

What you could do is create membership cards that must be presented and scanned at events to speed things up for returning members, but you are correct that there doesn't seem to be a way to generate scannable one-time barcodes for the purpose you're talking about. One thing I have noticed in the past with barcode scanning, however, is that it is not possible to restrict 100% of the constituent membership information. Whoever is scanning IDs will be able to see membership levels, and I know at orgs I've worked at in the past, we didn't necessarily want the folks working the door to see whether someone was a school family, leadership level, etc.
