Business Rules - Duplicates

I am a complete Raiser's Edge newbie, so apologies if this is a dumb question.

According to the Configuration and Security guide - when I select Config → Business Rules → Duplicates I should be able to select “Criteria” (with “Individuals” and “Organisations” beneath that) or “Options”. Instead all I am seeing are the options settings. There is no “Criteria” visible. I believe I am set up with full admin rights.

Is there a reason why what I am seeing doesn't match with the documentation? I am trying to set duplicate options for Constituents. The version is 7.96.

I think RE used to offer the ability to change the duplicate criteria but it was phased out in an earlier version. I have full admin rights and am also on 7.96 and my duplicate screen looks the same as the one on page 89 of the user guide below - perhaps you have an older manual?

It is date 2011, so perhaps there is a more recent one.

My ultimate goal is to use the Import Recurring Gifts plug in to import recurring gifts and link them to existing constituents. However, at present the plug-in seems to use only the constituent surname and first name when identifying duplicates. If the import references a name which matches more than one constituent (which is quite common) then it fails with a “duplicate detected” exception. I would like to expand the duplicate detection criteria to include the Constituent ID (or possibly the Constituent Import ID). Perhaps this is not possible.

Yes that does look like it relates to an older version - the newest version number I can see mentioned in your guide is 7.86.

I've never used the Import Recurring Gifts plugin but RE will often automatically match fields to import files if you give them the “correct” heading in your file. It might match to constituent ID if you label your column ConsID.
