Deleting multiple Table Entries

During the initial import of our alumni from the 'old' CRM system, hundreds of 'Subject of Study' entries were included under 'Education'. These entries were very awkward to use, because they started with a number and not with the description, so I wanted to replace them. With an export and import of the Education records this was done, but now I wanted to get rid of the old entries. And unfortunately there is no 'delete multiple entries' button in TRE.

I came up with an alternative that you may also find useful. I created an entry called 'ZZZZ', sorted the table so that the entries with the numbers were on top and then used the 'Table Cleanup' function. You can now select entries very quickly with the ArrowDown key and move to the next replacement with the TAB key. Once you have selected a number (20 for example) select 'ZZZZ' in the 'Replace with' combo, click the 'Delete table entries that are being replaced' selection and click 'Replace Now'.

In the end you only have to delete the ‘ZZZZ’ entry… ?

Warning: make sure you have no records in your database that uses the old codes. Create a query for that with a 'One Of' selection.
