Report PDFs now asking for password to annotate

Is anyone else having this issue? Since last weeks updates, our teachers are unable to save reports as PDF and then annotate. It is asking for a password and doesn't take the login password or anything we try. The file info shows it is a crystal report that is encrypted and has a password (it is just a pdf that came from class roster (or any other similar) reports - I chose enrollment roster but it is any pdf that comes from the reports teachers see under their assignment center or class or advisory rosters. Doesn't matter if we save to downloads or google drive or wherever. It wants a password if we try to annotate the report.

  • Hi @Ellen Hackeman, Have you reached out to support around this yet? I would highly recommend doing so they can take a look at your setup and see what might be occurring.

  • I did and they told me:

"The PDF files generated by the system are locked by design and cannot be edited. Not even the support teams have access to the code to edit them. If that code was to get in the wrong hands, it would jeopardize the security/integrity of report cards, contracts and transcripts for all of our schools.

Below is an existing enhancement request for the ability to add this functionality which the Proctor staff at proctor can vote for.

However, this idea is from 2015 and one teacher tells me they were successfully doing this on the empty assignment grid until a couple weeks ago. So I don't know and don't understand why some things (like generate old report cards) allow me to annotate while others do not.

Hi, @Ben Leddy & @Jacqueline Koca, is the password protection on unofficial transcripts when a student downloads them is new? Our students are attempting to upload them to a scholarship portal but are unable to due to password protection. They said this never happened in the past, so I wonder if this is new to their transcripts or something new on the scholarship portal.
