How to label Realized Planned Gifts in RE

Hello,

Each month I put together cash and production charts for our leadership team. One issue that requires manual cleanup for me is that we do not have realized planned gifts (the money that comes in after a deceased persons planned gift is realized) labeled as such. Ideally, I would like to add “Realized Planned Gift” as an entry in the data table as a gift type but I do not see gift type as one of the editable data tables in the configuration section of RE database.

How do you/your organization keep track of what gifts are realized planned gifts in RE?

This inability to add “Realized Planned Gift” as a gift type is preventing me from being able to automate my monthly reports due to having to manually clean up the data before I can visualize it in Power Bi.

I had a similar problem with tracking stamps that constituents donate and needed to track for financial reports. My way around this was for the ‘Pay Method' to be Other. I created a new ‘Gift Subtype’, which was ST-Stamps and used the fund code we had used pre-RE.

We created a gift subtype (in the gift subtype table) called “Realized Planned Gifts” and use it on the cash gift linked to the planned gift.

Pretty sure you are correct that Gift Types cannot be edited.

Realized Planned Gifts - we created an appeal for Bequest Realized and one for Unknown Realized Bequests so that we can pull for our reports.

We use the gift constituency of Estate to identify realized planned gifts.

Does your org use the Planned Gift Module in RE? There is a tick box on the Planned Gift record that indicates if the gift has been realized.
