Optional Checklist Options influence progression to next Milestone/ Allow Milestone Overrides

Hi All,

I am wondering if anyone has any tips and tricks to this, I discovered that all steps need to be marked as complete or waived before the candidate status change of the next milestone can be changed, regardless of if the candidate completed the milestone for the change.

For example, our candidate status' are “Started” once they enter the checklist milestone to start the checklist.
Once they finish their application form, then we want them to have the candidate status of “Applied," even if previous steps are not done yet. It would be great to find a workaround that allows “optional” steps to not count OR to allow one milestone to override the other, even if all the steps in the previous milestone have not been completed or waived.

I would love to hear what you do for this! Or if you track the progress in alternative way, I'm open to ideas!

I found an Idea to put something like this in motion below, as well as the milestone override idea I submitted in case anyone wants to reference or vote on either.

OPTIONAL CHECKLIST OPTIONS

MILESTONE OVERRIDE

  • Hi Amber, you could always set up a milestone with a status of “no change” and put it at the end of your checklist. That way candidates would see the steps that they could complete, but it wouldn't impact their status.

Additionally, you can set it up so that when a decision is made, all outstanding steps are waived.

    Thanks,

    Sarah

Hi @Amber LeJeune - in our workflow we don't assign the checklist until after the applicant has submitted their application.

I'm not sure if there are any steps on your checklist that you need to be completed before they submit the application. In our case, they need to apply before they can do any additional steps.

  • Amber - our admissions checklists are a hybrid of what @Bryan Lorenzo and Sarah shared. Within each grouping, we may have steps required for all candidates and a step or two not required. Steps that are entirely optional are set up at the end of the checklist as they don't affect milestones.

  • Thank you Lauren! We may look into something like this in order to maintain the flow of the application process we currently have.

  • Hi Bryan! Thank you for this alternate view! The way our process is set up, the Application is one of the last “Big” steps as parents are encouraged to complete steps of the application (and get to know the school a little more) prior to committing to the application. After filling out the application two more steps are available as those are limited to serious applicants. We try to maintain a uniform process with the other PSIS schools in the area so that plays into it as well.

  • Hi Sarah! Thank you for this, where might I find the instructions to do this for the decision process? It might be obvious but I'm missing it.

  • Hi Amber, if you go to your checklist step, and choose a step type of “decision” there is a setting for “auto-wave”.

    Thank you,

    Sarah
