Getting multiple gifts to list individual fields on a query

How do you get a query to list individual gifts in different columns instead of list form? i.e. gift 1, gift 2, gift 3 etc. preferably with dates as well.

TIA

  • Have to tried pivot table in excel?

  • Hi Michelle, I do know how to do this - but haven't for a while. I do it through the mailing process and it involves making sure that the export nodes are all aligned perfecting so that data stays aligned. I will try to look later and write more if I get a chance. - Tamara

  • I usually use an export definition when I need multiple records per constituent, and need the fields to be connected or synced (like amount and gift date) since the aggregated fields in a query don't necessarily work for that. An export can be tricky to set up if the gifts you want don't have a common filter or criteria you can apply in the export, but it does allow the grouping so you have all of the gift information (amount, date, application, etc) aligned, and you can specify how many you want and how to order them, ex last 3 gifts by date.

Here is an example of how the export fields need to be nested in the nodes for the results to line up in the export data. It takes some practice to get the hang of it.
