Student Learning Profiles and Unofficial/Shadow Tools for Communication/Collaboration

Is anyone else experiencing faculty using Google for “shadow" workflows?

At my school, the workflows that happen outside of Blackbaud tend to center around student support and learning, such as:

  • Creating a single “learning profile” that faculty, learning specialists, other support staff and administrative leadership can all review and update as needed
  • Drafting report card narratives and reviewing them before they are “finalized” in Blackbaud
  • Taking and maintaining parent-teacher conference notes
  • Creating and sharing a “teacher to teacher form,” for the handoff as students rise from grade to grade

What is your strategy to ensure that Blackbaud holds the complete and official student record while offering the benefits of the Google tools for collaboration and communication?
