We are starting to put together plans for a prospect management team for major gifts. Part of this would include people outside of development and I'm wondering how other's manage this.

Are you using specific solicitor types and multiple of those types on a record

Can you assign this via an opportunity instead of the constituent level

would love your thoughts/insights

So i am understanding…you are having development officers as well as external advocates/key influencers solicit major gifts?

I would use a unique solicitor type from your development staff. We have staff as primary, others on campus as natural partner and now for an ask where we are assigning volunteer alumni they have a specific type named for the project.

If you have multiples of the same type, your exports can get a bit messy and require manual clean-up.

I do my assignments using a query based on constituent id of those on a particular list via global add.

Note, making mass changes or wanting to put end dates on a large group can not be done as a global change - it's an export/import process. I wish BB would address that as you can get a query with just those you want to change but all assignments on the record will be changed.

I've done import changes for assignments before - main thing to remember is the solicitor import ID (which I think they call solicitor key). And I do know the export mess of more than one solicitor of the same type on a record, which I want to avoid if possible.

@Rachel Kave - yes it is a team approach to the solicitation which would include leadership team and volunteers and as JoAnn mentioned ‘natural partners’

Does anyone know if solicitors can be on an opportunity? I have to play around with that and see.

@Joanne Felci Yes as long as they have a record in NXT and you mark them as solicitors in database view. We have a type called Key Influencer for our external fundraisers.

You can have multiple fundraisers on an opportunity so I think I'm going to put it there. There would be one Prospect Manager as an assigned fundraiser/solicitor but all these team members would be against a specific opportunity as different teams would be working on different opportunities for the same constituent.
