Like many of you, I've had a frustrating time with the “new” conditional merge option.
If you're still having issues, have a look at a recent post of mine, which has a couple add'l comments I added with further solutions. I know everyone's issues are likely unique, but I can't imagine I was the only one facing this specific problem.
