RTF Templates for gift receipting

With the recent Blackbaud-Microsoft changes, I'm working with an organization that is trying to recreate their receipt template using RE's built in RTF editor. It's very limited in functionality.

Is there any way to access the actual RTF template file? I wanted to see if I could edit in Word, save in RTF and replace the file.

Have they already built a template in the Mail function that you want to edit, or are you starting from scratch? I believe your only option is to build it in the actual Rich Text Designer. You certainly can start in word and cut and paste a starting point in, but you will then still need to work in the designer to add the merge fields and clean up spacing etc.
