Deleting a gift in NXT

Does anyone know if a gift can be deleted in webview? It's sitting in it's own batch and it has not yet been approved. I also tried deleting it in BBMS with no luck. Blackbaud chat support transferred me to 4 different agents who were all unable to help me after being in chat for an hour. Would it be better to approve the gift and then refund it?

If I'm understanding your post correctly, the gift shows as a charge in BBMS. Then the card has been charged. Approval in RE web view or committing a batch in db view is not what ‘charges’ the card.

There was a recent string on how to remove a gift in NXT by moving it to a like-type of constituent record created just for this purpose and then deleting the record.

To refund the card, this is done in BBMS. If you click the 3 dots or what is on left when looking at list of transactions, you will see option to refund. (don't have BBMS open right now to see what is in my memory.)

  • Yes, you need (maybe already did) to approve the gift and then refund or make adjustments. If a constituent uses a credit card via an online giving page/form, the card is swiped and the transaction is either approved or denied. The transaction date is the date the constituent gave the donation. Then you go into the system and approve the payment. The last step should be issuing the refund. It would be nice if there was a “reject” button that did a deletion and refund at the same time.
