Letter Box Review ?

I am thinking about adding Letter Box and would like to know if anyone is using it. If so, what do you think about it?

An important thing to know about Letter Box is that you can set up a constituent or a gift template, and then generate a PDF one at a time. You are unable to edit the letter once it has been generated. This works well if you don't ever have the need to edit a letter, however at my org we always need to edit something! ?

I am always making edits too. I was hoping that I could edit the pdf since I have the Adobe version that allows me to make edits.

I have found that I can open the downloaded PDF in Word and edit it. I have AdobePro so perhaps that is why it has been no problem to make edits to the merged documents. A few main concerns is that the there is no way to set margins, also merge fields don't include Org Name or Primary Relationship contact so I have to manually add that in for any org gift. Also, there appears to be no way to limit which users have access to the LetterBox tool. I downloaded the tool and it is now available to all the users at my organization (which I think is problematic). This tool is way to powerful for all users to access, it marks gifts acknowledged etc.. something i want reserved only for gift processors and the DBA

Thank you for that feedback. I did get my conditional merge to work better so I have been using that instead of adding Letter Box.

Hi Carlene, love you're using Letter Box just letting you know we will be adding individual letter customising shortly, in fact, this month. This will allow you to open individual letters within a bulk letter run, prior to creating the PDFs, and make any changes you like (eg adding a personal note, highlighting a particularly relevant section) using Letter Box’s built-in editor. When the PDFs are generated, any indvidualized letters will be generated including the changes and the modified letter will be stored on the record. This will also be available to invidualize a one-off letter from the constituent/gift record.
