Decimal points in grades recently messed up

Hello; I hope I'm posting this in the right place – in our school's online gradebook, there's one particular assignment (I call it the “Earned Points & Extra Credit Grade”) for which I use decimal points: e.g., a student might have a 42.4 out of 40. However, I just noticed that some previously-entered grades with decimal points have recently been messed up – it probably won't affect calculations at all, but it could still be confusing for students, and it makes it more difficult for me. For example, for one student, what was a 66.8 out of 40 is now a 66.800003 out of 40, and it won't let me change it back. Another example: what was a 45.8 out of 40 is now a 45.799999 out of 40. Is this due to some update to the software that was made? Is there any way it can be fixed?

Thanks! :)

    Hello Everyone!

My name is Mike and I'm one of the Product Managers for our Learning Management System.

Yes, this is something that the team is aware of and is working on correcting. I don't have an ETA to relay at this time, however, if you reach out to Support, they'll be able to get a case created for you and will notify you once the issue has been corrected. When reaching out to Support, if you can provide us with an example student or two that'll help the team out as well.

We know that this view of the grade is confusing for end users, so we're hoping to have this addressed in the near future.

  • We found that it was only displayed this way in the gradebook. The students and parents don't see the extended decimals, so that's something.
