Running reports in RE NXT vs. the backend

Hi - Hoping to get an answer here. I'm without a database person temporarily but need a giving report. Would a report I pull in NXT pull everything correctly?

In theory, yes - if you are looking at the standard reports they should be accurate… but it does depend a bit on what kind of data you are pulling so I hesitate to give you a solid “yes.” Soft credits for example are harder to see in NXT, but if you are looking at something like “Year to Date Committed” then you can be confident. My only other caution is to be aware that NXT reports have a delay, so if a large gift was just entered you may not see it there until it refreshes.

100% depends on what you are reporting. Impossible to answer without details, unfortunately!

  • I agree with @Aldera Chisholm. You also have to be aware of Split Donations. Pulling reports may display with full amounts for each fund.

  • Depends on how the NXT settings are set up. Planned Gifts especially, may or may not be included in committed revenue. Can you run your report in database view, so you can more easily preview the settings for your individual report?

One hopes that your last database person had a few recurring reports already set up in webview or db view, and you can simply update the date ranges ….
